New York City is one of the few cities that offers almost every workout class under the sun. From aerial yoga to boxing to the ubiquitous bootcamp, there’s something for everyone! Some studios have gone out of their way to make working out fun and not dreaded (especially during the icey cold winter months). So if you're in search of the perfect BFF sweat sesh, check out the list below of our 5 favorite studio classes to break a sweat this 2018.

AG6 at Asphalt Green

Life is but an arcade when you take on Asphalt Green’s highly talked about AG6 workout class. Squeeze in this high-intensity, circuit-based, full-body workout while recreating scenes from Tron. This 45-minute class utilizes PRAMA technology that features pressure sensitive walls and floors that come alive with integrated LED light and sound creating a fully immersed fitness experience. Designed to strengthen your muscle memory, you’ll walk out realizing you worked out parts of your body you didn’t even know existed!

Overthrow Boxing Club

Rocky Balboa would be proud. Taking the term underground to new levels, this boxing gym offers an incredible 45-minute boxing burnout class that incorporates shadowboxing, heavy bag work and basic boxing technique to the most perfectly curated playlist you can envision when it comes to boxing. The perfect way to unwind after a stressful day at the office, Overthrow opened a second location not too long ago in, where else, The 'Burg.

Y7 Studio

Dubbing themselves the “Original Hip-Hop Yoga Studio,” Y7 is slowly taking over New York and we have zero complaints about this zen takeover. Known for their impeccable hip-hop themed vinyasa and slow burn yoga classes, all classes take place in a heated, dark, candlelit room that uses infrared heating technology to get the studio to between 80-90 degrees. You soon forget just how warm it is as you dive into your flow. Is there a better way to stretch it out than by doing it to a little Beyonce? Didn’t think so.

Barry’s Bootcamp

What’s a workout studio roundup without Barry’s Bootcamp? An effective combination of heavy-weight training and treadmill intervals, you won’t know whether to cry or thank your lucky stars for discovering the magic at Barry’s. Don’t be scared though! Originating in Los Angeles, this west coast transplant promises to burn up to 1,000 calories in one class, tone muscles, maximize fat loss and increase your metabolism (AKA you’ll walk out of that studio and STILL burn calories long after class is over). Where do we sign up?

AntiGravity Fitness

Created by Christopher Harrison, a Tony Award winning aerial choreographer and fitness expert, this aerial yoga class gives you the full body workout you’re looking for while allowing you to feel like the ethereal queen you are. Antigravity Fitness offers eight programs for students to choose from ranging from the basics of aerial fitness with a hammock to a program designed around yoga flow and asanas. You’ll walk out relaxed and prepared to recap what just went down with your BFF over matcha.
