2023 Skin & Beauty Trends To Follow

It seems that every day, you can read about something new that you should be either doing or avoiding; another meal plan, another workout, another product you need to try (or steer clear of!) Recently, we’ve seen a handful of interesting wellness trends going around, and we decided to round a few up and share them with you!
Driving gloves
Don’t let the name fool you—you don’t have to be the one driving to benefit from a pair of driving gloves. Whether you’re playing Passenger Princess in an Uber, on a weekend road trip or even taking a stroll outside on these first warm days of the year, driving gloves can be used in basically any situation where your skin is exposed to UVA and UVB rays. SPF may seem like the obvious choice to protect your face, but you may not always think to lather up your hands or arms before stepping out on an April morning! Purchasing a pair of chic driving gloves can do all the work for you—when made of UPF, they’re proven to block up to 98% of sun rays. (They can also be the perfect statement piece for any outfit!)
mouth taping
We promise, it’s not as crazy as it sounds! The viral trend of using specialized strips or tape to avoid mouth-breathing while sleeping piqued our interest. While it may seem like a crazy trend, there’s research behind it to show its benefits! Studies have proven that nasal breathing is much more beneficial—filtering out allergens and dust, and can decrease or potentially eliminate snoring. Your dentist may also notice an improvement at your next checkup, as it’s been shown that eliminating mouth-breathing can result in fewer cavities. Leaving your mouth open and exposed overnight can leave you more susceptible to dry mouth which can lead to bad breath and tooth decay. It’s recommended to consult a doctor before beginning a mouth taping regimen, and to avoid it if you have sleep apnea or any sleep disorder.
lack of lip balm
Nobody loves chapped lips, but did you know that too much lip balm can actually be the culprit? Crazy, right?! In fact, over-moisturizing your lips can subconsciously lead you to lick your lips more frequently, wearing away at the coat of lip balm—which leads to you applying more. This cycle can continue until you find there’s little relief for your chapped lips. The best thing you can do is to limit your use of lip balm to morning, after meals, and before bed. Of course, with spring upon us, if you plan on being outside for the greater part of the day, a lip balm with UV protectant is the key to both moisturizing your lips and protecting them. There are also plenty of tinted lip balms which provide a slight pop of color and give a casual look the perfect, polished finish!
Let us know if you’ve ever tried any of these—or if you try on our recommendation, what you think of them!
