I Tried the 24K Gold Wax, and Here's What Happened

Scrolling through the Internet in search of the next big thing to research, test and write about, I came across testimonies of women who wax. Now, I'm no newbie to waxing, but this specific waxing had me staring in awe--it's created with 24K Gold. It just sounds luxurious, right? As you can imagine, I was immediately intrigued, so I decided to do a little experiential research to see what it was all about.
As I walked up Madison Avenue past one gorgeous storefront after another, I already felt like I was on one big glamorous adventure. Once I reached my destination, I buzzed in and headed upstairs to be greeted by a room just as perfectly designed as you'd expect of something known for 24K Gold waxes. With fur rugs, white couches, purple-foiled chocolates and prosecco, I felt like I was in heaven- but really I was at VSPOT.

So, now that you have the background, let's get back to the 24K Gold wax. Apart from wondering exactly how much gold is actually in this wax (spoiler: it's enough that you can see it, but not a lot overall), I wanted to know what the benefits of such a product could be. Turns out, gold is touted for being an anti-inflammatory agent, meaning the typical redness and ingrown hairs associated with waxing are a whole lot less likely with this type of wax. Okay, I was sold.
Now, I won't go into detail about the actual waxing. Let's just say there were a few abrupt screams, because, let's be real, waxing is no walk in the park--even when 24K gold is involved. Nevertheless, by the end of the wax, I was pleasantly surprised. As someone with extremely sensitive skin, waxing is pretty much asking for something bad to happen, but I've always been okay with that due to the convenience of it. The fact that this wax didn't create lasting redness, nor did I experience any (and I mean ANY) ingrown hairs as a result, just goes to show that all that glitters, really is gold.
