Color Me Bushwick Musical Festival is Back This Weekend
If you love all things hair, copper decor, music and tattoos, you'll fall head over heels the moment you step foot inside of Chelsey Pickthorn's namesake salon in Bushwick, Brooklyn. If you're unfamiliar with Chelsey Pickthorn, there's a good chance you've seen her work--seen everywhere from blockbuster films and Hollywood to fashion week runways and everyday streetwear looks walking through SoHo, the seriously talented hair colorist has made quite the name for herself. Her notoriety goes beyond the boundaries of her Brooklyn-based salon however, in fact just last month she and a team of amazing women in film, photography, sound, design, production, direction and hairdressing hit the road to celebrate the art of hair and the beauty of music. Alas, we introduce you to WE COLOR LIVE, the tour you wish you could've hopped in her luggage for.
WE COLOR LIVE was an 8-stop hair and music progressive education odyssey through the American & Canadian West, that broke boundaries and merged two forms of art into a new kind of education to create an unprecedented experience. And considering how unordinary and awe-inspiring Chelsey is, we can't exactly say that we're surprised that she'd pull off such an incredible experience. We can, however, say that we wish we had been there every step of the way--one scroll through all her snaps and we had major hair envy, not to mention serious FOMO. Luckily for us (and you and your friends) Chelsey and the gang are back from their first-ever tour, just in time for PICKTHORN and WE COLOR LIVE to host their fourth annual Color Me Bushwick music festival this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 2nd-4th. The best part? It's only a subway ride away!
Color Me Bushwick will feature 21 bands -- hand selected by Creative Director Jocelyn Simone -- playing inside the PICKTHORN hair studio. Some of the musicians will be from the recent tour and will showcase their new hair makeovers courtesy of Chelsey and a series of Davines colorists throughout the United States. With acts by Best Behavior, Revel in Dimes, Chaos Chaos, Debbie Downer, Heartland Nomads, Hnry Flwr, Sic Tic, A Deer a Horse, Fiona Silver, Monograms, Wooing, Rachel Angel, Espejismo, Hot Curl, Marcela Avelina, Grim Streaker, Fruit & Flowers, The Nuclears, Big Bliss and The Boobies throughout the weekend, not to mention a series of freebies along the way, this isn't an event you'll want to miss.
