Everything Caroline Wore to Fashion Week
By: Caroline Vazzana
Planning my Fashion Week looks is different than planning outfits for any ordinary day. I wish I could tell you that it is a simple, spur of the moment decision, or that I start planning a month before, but it's usually a chaotic scramble about two weeks in advance. Which still, overall, could be worse, I guess. For me, I always like to play with color, and experiment with my clothing. But, when it comes to Fashion Week, I feel like this is a time to really push the bar and try something new. Like any work of art though, it takes time, and definitely some trial and error. The way I usually start planning, as corny as this sounds, is by visualizing how I want myself to look. From there, I then start writing down outfit ideas in the notes on my phone so I don't forget, because what good is visualizing if I then forget everything? My note feature on my iPhone is pretty much my best friend, I tell it everything, even the crazy ideas I don't want to admit to myself. So below, are all of my final looks from Fashion Week and the crazy reasons why I wore them. Enjoy!
Day 1
I wanted to ease into the mad dash that is Fashion Week with something comfortable. To me, nothing is more comfortable than a floor length pleated skirt. I loved the metallic pleates on this one because when walking to and from shows, it really sparkled.

Day 2
For the second day, I felt like a chic school girl, this is what I wish I was allowed to wear to high school everyday. Both my top (obviously) and my skirt (if you can't tell from the picture) had sparkles on them so I was a full on disco ball. I paired my look with sandals and socks, which is one of my favorite combos.

Day 3
I've always been a fan of orange and blue, so when I received this top, I knew I needed to do a full orange and blue look. This outfit gave me preppy safari vibes. The beaded necklace I'm wearing has birds on it. It's vintage and the moment I saw it I was in love.

Day 4
To me, jeans like these just scream Fashion Week. I dressed up my painted jeans with fancy flats and a floral top. At first look, I was torn if my earrings were too much but then decided I was just overthinking things.
Shop the look: Asos top, $54; asos.com. Kate Spade Earrings, similar styles katespade.com. Manolo Blahnik shoes, similar styles manoloblahnik.com. Zara pants, similar styles zara.com. Moscot glasses, similar styles moscot.com. Francescas bag, similar styles francescas.com.
Day 5
Nothing says "New York Fashion Week" more than pants with metro cards on them! But instead of making it look like I'm wearing pajamas, I dressed up these pants with kitten heels and a bright yellow blazer, because more is more. Am I right?
Shop the look: Yeah Bunny pants, $149; yeahbunny.shopify.com. Nina shoes, $79; nordstrom.com. Lauren Cecchi bag, $495; laurencecchi.com. Brandy Melville shirt, similar styles brandymelvilleusa.com. Zara blazer, similar styles zara.com. RVS Eyewear glasses, similar styles rvseyewear.com.
Day 6
I'm a huge fan of pearls, so when I saw this jumper I knew I had to wear it at Fashion Week. I layered it over a white t-shirt for a nice contrast and finished it off with my favorite black mary janes. To me, during Fashion Week, comfort is key when it comes to shoes!
Shop the look: Deux A Official jumper, similar styles deux-a.com. Yeah Bunny shirt, similar styles yeahbunny.myshopify.com. From St. Xavier bag, similar styles fromstxavier.com. Manolo Blahnik shoes, similar styles manoloblahnik.com. Betsey Johnson earrings, $45; betseyjohnson.com. Tura Inc. glasses, similar styles tura.com.
Day 7
As we began to wrap things up, I started to feel like I had nothing to wear. Thankfully, I had these amazing pieces from Ann Taylor & Rachel Roy to help me finish off on the right foot. I love a good mini skirt and this one with a metallic floral pattern worked well when paired with my oversized off-the-shoulder top.
Shop the look: Rachel Roy skirt, similar styles rachelroy.com. Ann Taylor top, $50; anntaylor.com. Zara shoes, similar styles zara.com. Skinny Dip London bag, $80; skinnydiplondon.com. Necklaces are vintage from EBay. RVS Eyewear glasses, rvseyewear.com.
