Let’s get serious for a second — staying positive when you are searching for your dream job can be difficult, especially given our current situation. From those of us who’ve been there, we know you have to endure the bad ones before you make it to the one that’s your perfect fit.

Keep your head up — we’re here to help you through! Read on for our tips to help keep your mood positive during this time of trial and error.

Remind Yourself it’s a Process

If you are expecting to find your perfect job right away, you might be setting yourself up to be disappointed. Searching for a job —especially your dream job— is going to take some time, so don’t stress out if you don’t find it after the first few apps and interviews.  Trust us, it’s easier to stay positive when you are prepared for the long journey for your perfect job. Everyone’s process is different so don’t base your experience off someone else’s journey.

Keep a Journal

Your journey could take you through many different jobs; so while you are making your way through, keep a journal. This is where you get to jot down all your experiences along the way: the good and the bad. This will be kind of like your own personal time capsule; you get to see how much you have grown over this period of your life. When you finally land that dream job, you will be able to look back at this journal and see how far you have come.

Set Goals

Nothing is more satisfying than getting to cross things off a list! So while you are working your way through, set some goals that you can accomplish outside of work. Whether it’s accomplishing a task with a side hustle or a personal goal, make sure your list isn’t fully centered around your “9-5”!

Surround Yourself with a Strong Support System

Last but certainly not least; without a strong support system, it may be difficult to maintain a positive mindset. Make sure to surround yourself with people who are always looking out for your best interest and remove the toxic relationships from your life. This is something you will always need, even after you snatched that perfect job!
