How To Transition Your Favorite Summer Pieces Into Your Fall Wardrobe
By: Carolyn Holtzman
After settling back into regular city life after Labor Day, you may be quick to flip your closet to prepare for Fall. But not so fast! Gone are the days when you can’t sport your favorite white jeans after Labor Day and when your strappy sandals are reserved only for Summer getaways. We’ve collected some of the best ways to integrate your summer staples into your Fall Wardrobe perfected by street style stars as well as tips on how you can recreate those looks yourself.
Sundresses
Sundresses are my favorite summer trend, so it’s always sad putting them away as temperatures drop. This year, instead of hiding your dresses away until Memorial Day, repurpose them as transitional pieces in your Fall wardrobe.
Layering is your best friend when it comes to rocking sundresses after Labor Day. Add a knee-high boot, turtleneck or blazer, and your summer dress will be perfect for Fall. If it’s not quite chilly enough to layer yet, toughen up a girly spring dress with some edgier accessories like ankle boots or a fall bag.
Socks + Sandals
Another end of summer bummer? Trading in your favorite summer heels for more practical boots and closed-toe shoes. Last Fall we saw the reintroduction of socks with sandals, and we expect to see this on street style stars this year again.
The best part about this look? You can rock your favorite sandals without ever needing a pedicure! Just throw on your favorite socks for some added pizazz – and warmth – to your outfit.
Crop Tops
While more practical looks for Fall and Winter include cardigans and coats, don’t waste that summer tan just yet. There are so many fashionable ways to integrate your favorite summer crop top into your Fall closet.
Just like with your sundresses, layering is key. Pair a simple crop top with a statement jacket or other fall accessories like a hat or leather pants for a super cool look that works from day to night.
White Denim
Whoever said no white after Labor Day was seriously disturbed. For Fall, lean into your white denim and pair, it will make a full white ensemble. Keep it simple like RHW or add a fun coat for added drama. A fun pop of color or a print can also become the focal point of the look.
Summer Blouses
Just like your white denim, there are so many ways to keep using your favorite summer blouses this season. While your white statement blouse is a standout piece in your summer wardrobe, for Fall, they can work perfectly as the backdrop for bolder pieces, such as a jumper dress or a bold color.
Neon Green
Neon colors always pop up in summer, and neon green was especially popular this year. For Fall, channel RiRi by keeping your outfit monotone and letting the neon shine, or take a page out of Kendall’s books by mixing other bright colors and prints. Just because its Fall doesn’t mean you have to stick to dark colors!
