During Fashion Week, it’s essential to put your best foot forward - literally! From Cynthia Rowley to Zadig and Voltaire, New York’s Fall 2020 shows gave the Making it in Manhattan team serious shoe envy. Velvet pumps, platform sandals, and every variety in-between sparked the need for a footwear shopping spree ASAP. From the fall runways, here are the best shoes from Fashion Week

Strappy Sandals
Cynthia Rowley and Christian Siriano both paired summery sandals with bold garments. Rowley opted for sky-high platforms while Siriano chose low-heeled mules with scrunchie-like straps. Anna Sui contributed to the trend, too, with glittery platforms in shades of green, orange, and her signature purple.

Combat Boots
Models were ready for combat at shows like Zadig and Voltaire, Anna Sui and Nicole Miller. Tall, Victorian-esque boots in black, red and floral prints overtook Sui’s fall collection, while Vivienne Hu dotted her looks with chain-embellished boots. In her British rock-themed show, Nicole Miller’s models wore studded combats for the ultimate cool-girl look. Alice + Olivia featured tall lace-up versions decorated with shorter studded boots for added versatility.

Snake Prints
Reptilian prints proved a popular trend for designers at Fashion Week. Vivienne Hu’s fall collection was filled with tall, grey-brown printed boots and some shorter heels as well. Cinq a Sept’s restaurant-set fashion show served looks accented with tall brown lace-ups as well as pink and white ankle boots. Pointed-toe boots in python prints also ruled the runway at Veronica Beard’s 10th-anniversary show.

Pointed-Toes
Let’s get to the point, shall we? This sleek trend is alive and well in 2020, covering a wide range of styles. Alice + Olivia and Veronica Beard both made a case for styling dresses with tall boots as did Tadashi Shoji on the first day of Fashion Week. One of the boldest takes came from Chiara Boni, who showed bow-topped and staple versions of court pumps in green, pink, yellow and maroon.
